iPad 2 Now Ships Worldwide in 1-2 Weeks

Apple seems to be catching up with the demand of the iPad 2 after shipping times for orders from the Apple online store dropped to just 1-2 weeks last night. Those in the U.S. noticed the change first, but it slowly spread to every country in which the device is currently available.

Shortly after its launch, shipping times for the iPad 2 hit 4-5 weeks, but as Apple deals with demand and orders begin to tail off a little, shipping times have continued to slowly drop.

It’s still not easy to get your hands on the second-generation device in a retail store, however; Apple retail and third-party suppliers seem to be selling out as soon as they receive stock. With a wait of just 1-2 weeks from the online store, that’s probably the quickest way of securing an iPad right now.

For those in the U.K., it seems Apple is currently processing orders made between 25th and 31st of March. I telephoned Apple today to ask about my own iPad order – which was placed on April 1st – and was informed orders after 31st March won’t start shipping until May 3rd.

seems my iPad (ordered 29 march) still has an estimated delivery date of 3 may. boo… hope it updated/brought forward later today!

I’m bit skeptical to these shipping pseudo estimates, I ordered mine 30 March when announced gap between the order and shipping was 3-4 weeks (and 2 days after even rescheduled to 2-3 weeks on the official web) but the result is “expected delivery on the 5th of May” (from order tracking). But closer we are approaching to the real single-shot global delivery date, the shipping times get logically shorter. I just need to be patient :-)

Except Steve and the boys still seem to think that we are not worthy of the iPad2 here in Japan ???

I understand Apple’s initial intentions & the need to show respect for those affected by 3/11 but life continues on here in spite of those events – 3/11 was a pretty big setback here no doubt, but 85% of the population has seen little or no effect on their day to day lives since 10 days post event and 50% of us ( like myself and family ) had zero effect with the exception of the scare-monger reportage…

Unfortunately, the talk on the street has now grown to the belief that the lack of iPad2 here is simply to offset supply constraints in the USA – after all, if it’s about respect & transportation troubles etc.., then why can I either order a MacBook AIr online and get it in 3-4 days or go to my local Apple Store and walk out with one in about an hour ???

You’ll get it sooner than that. I ordered on the 24th and got mine last Friday.

Still, the 1-2 week estimate for current orders is probably closer to 2 than 1, otherwise they’d be expressing the duration in days instead of giving themselves a 200% margin of error.

Worldwide?? USA and UK are not worldwide. Work a little harder and actually have your article match your title.
