FaceTime video calls in iOS 26 will automatically pause if Apple’s software detects nudity or other sensitive content. Apple will provide users with an option to manually resume the video and audio or end the call.

However, the Sensitive Content Warning remains off by default.

iOS 26 may block your nudity in steamy FaceTime calls

iPhones and iPads already offer a Sensitive Content Warning feature that detects and blurs nude photos and videos before you view them. While turned off by default, you can easily enable the feature from the Privacy & Security menu in the Settings app. Apart from blurring sensitive images, your iPhone also shows a warning when sharing such pictures.

With iOS 26, Apple expands its Sensitive Content Warning to FaceTime calls as part of its Communication Safety tools. As discovered by @iDeviceHelp, FaceTime in iOS 26 will automatically pause a call when it detects nudity or other sensitive content, even for adults.

In such cases, the phone displays a warning, saying “Audio and video are paused because you may be showing something sensitive. If you feel uncomfortable, you should end the call.” You’ll see options to resume audio and video or end the call.

On-device machine learning ensures full privacy

Apple uses on-device machine learning to detect nudity in photos and videos, ensuring your data never leaves your device. This approach guarantees full privacy, with Apple not knowing if any nude content is detected.

The company may refine this feature in future iOS 26 beta releases to restrict it to child accounts. That said, the feature remains optional and off by default, so it’s not intrusive. Plus, with cyberbullying and scams on the rise, the Sensitive Content Warning for FaceTime calls could be a valuable safety feature even for adults.
