Apple fans who want to get a glimpse of iOS 10 and macOS Sierra before their public release later this fall will finally get the opportunity to install the new software today.

Coming just two days after the release of the second beta of iOS 10 and macOS Sierra to developers, Apple is now letting members of its public beta program install the new software, which debuted last month at WWDC.

If you haven’t already signed up to get in on the betas, you can still do so at the Apple Beta Software Program site. Once you’re in the program, you’ll get an email with a link to download the latest builds.

A warning about installing iOS 10 beta

Beta testers should only install iOS 10 on a secondary iPhone or iPad because many bugs remain in the trial version of Apple’s upcoming mobile OS. Many of your apps won’t work perfectly, and downgrading is a pain (although it is possible to downgrade from iOS 10 to iOS 9.3.2).

Mac users installing macOS Sierra are encouraged to install it on a separate hard drive partition if they don’t have a second Mac upon which to test the new software.

iOS 10’s public release is expected to come around September, soon after Apple announces the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The new mobile operating system update brings a ton of new features, including a redesigned lock screen and big improvements to Messages, Apple Music, Apple News, Notifications and Control Center.

I’ve seen multiple sites saying this now but I’m still showing 9.3.3 as the newest beta software in my software update section on my iPhone 6plus. Do i Need to reregister given that this is a new version of iOS and not a “point update”?

Downloading iOS 10 public beta 1 now.
You have to delete the currnet profile and download/install the new profile.

  7. Downloaded and installed Public Beta 1 of iOS 10. This first public beta works loads better than Dev Beta 1, though my Bank of America app still crashes on launch (reported this using the Feedback app).
