Having to bid farewell to iMessage is one of the reasons why many iPhone users won’t jump ship to Android. But thanks to a new app called PieMessage, you can now enjoy Apple’s insanely popular messaging platform on a Google-powered smartphone.
Sure, there are plenty of third-party messages services that can replace iMessage, but to some, they’re just not as good — especially if you have lots of iPhone-owning friends. But PieMessage could finally lead to a world in which iMessage is finally cross-platform.
Unlike other hacks that promise to do the same, PieMessage doesn’t use a third-party server, so you don’t have to worry about your saucy sexts being intercepted. Instead, it relies on your Mac and OS X to bridge the connection between your Android and the iMessage service.

The client you need for OS X and the PieMessage app for Android are both available to download from GitHub — as is the script that makes the magic happen — so you can go try this out for yourself now.
PieMessage is a work in progress, however, so you will run into some issues — especially when sending messages to a group chat. But it’s certainly a promising start, and it will be interesting to see how it progresses before Apple shuts it down.
