IFTTT Reinstates Twitter Channel

Great news for automatic fanatics: Twitter is back on If This Then That (IFTTT). The Twitter channel was pulled from the service some months back thanks to authorization issues, but now it’s back, and ready to trigger and be triggered.

IFTTT, in case you forgot, is a service that pipes data between services. Thus you can automatically post your Instagrams to Flickr, or append a note to a Dropbox text file, or have the lights in your house turn on and off when you Tweet a certain hashtag.

Which brings us to the available actions for the Twitter channel. You can trigger it with any new Tweet from your account, or any new Tweet with a link, a hashtag, or a Tweet which you favorite.

Actions let you post a Tweet, post a Tweet with an image, add the user to a list, and update your profile picture or your bio.

As an example, I just quickly set up a recipe to send any links I tweet to Pinboard, to save them as bookmarks. I figure if it’s worth tweeting, it’s worth saving.

Sadly, iOS 7 has removed the universal Tweetbox from the Notification Center, so you can’t revive my hack that used it as a way to take quick notes in any app.
