BGR got its hands on an early iPhone 5 unit, and now the first shots of the device’s unboxing are out for everyone to gawk at. Apple is sticking to the classic black outer design for the box itself, and the internal packaging reveals the new EarPods, wall charger, and Lightning cable.

The iPhone 5 won’t be officially available in stores until this Friday. Pre-ordered units should be arriving on Friday as well. If you pre-ordered after the first few hours of availability this past Friday, there’s a good chance your iPhone 5 won’t ship for a couple more weeks. Apple sold 2 million iPhone 5 pre-orders in the first 24 hours of availability, which is double the number of iPhone 4S pre-orders last year.

The white model has a white box
Look at the EarPods packaging. They’re really trying to make these things feel “premium”. Wonder if they’ll get dinged for using more packaging.
Okay – if you guys want to sit, pet and drool over your new shiny iPhones that’s fine, but are you really excited about retail packaging? Honestly?
Looking good but I wonder why they decided to give us a case for the headphones?
THIS is the EXACT reason why ifans are so easy to laugh at. It’s because you’re enamored by iPhone’s retail box. I bet most of you keep it in mint condition too, am I right? Sure I am. Why? Social Status. It’s a fashion statement. What the hell can the iPhone 5 do that your iPhone 4s couldn’t? Better yet, what can the iPhone 5’s retail box do? Will you throw away the iPhone 4/4s box now?
We keep the packaging good because our phones are still worth something years later and its the perfect way to repackage your phone to sell on.
Love the fact that the EarPods come with a case. They spend 90% of their time in my bag and I’m sick of them getting all tangled up.
