Finally, The iPad Ukelele We’ve All Been Waiting For

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Futulele. It’s a crazy electric ukelele made of iPads and stuff.

It could, very possibly, be the future of music. Don’t just take my word for it; watch this demo vid:

Futulele will be available in April, say its makers at Amidio. It will be, they add with mysterious coyness, “one of the first music apps optimized for the iPad 3.” It’s an app, but there’s also a uke-shaped case you can slot your devices into, keeping them steady while you play. They talk to one another over Bluetooth, so no additional wires are necessary.

It looks like a toy, but its makers say Futulele will be as professional a music-making app as you’ll find:

The chord switch lag is kept at a minimum level, and as for the sound, Futulele successively captures every little nuance of a high-grade professional Ukulele instrument. Up to 12 chords can be used per song, and changing chord sets on the fly is a blast.

Thankfully, two devices are not a requirement for making music. The app will run fine on just one. But it won’t look anything as cool.

You could, of course, just buy yourself a ukelele. But why be so old school? Why deny yourself the joy of strumming strings that will never, ever break?

Oh. My. God. The youtube comments are going crazy with people saying how stupid and pointless this is, but I freaking love it! Depending on how much it costs, I am almost definitely buying this app. And if the case isn’t too expensive I am for sure getting that as well!
