Felix’s FlipStand is like a better version of Apple’s Smart Cover. It covers the screen and leaves the rear case mostly naked, but instead of using a flimsy folding action to give limited viewing angles when used as a stand, the FlipStand is almost infinitely adjustable between zero and ninety degrees, and holds the iPad steady like a kickstand.

The FlipStand clips onto the “spine” of your full-sized iPad (the Air isn’t yet supported), and adds a protective cover to the front. When you want to use it as a stand, whip the iPad out, flip it over and then you can use the cover as a base. The iPad hinges up to your chosen height, and you secure it at any of 22 angles with the built-in bracket. In short, it’s like a kickstand with a steady base to support it.
I like the simplicity here, and if it’s light enough I can see it being a great replacement for the Smart Cover. You can buy one in brown or black for $50. Also available for the iPad mini, with 16 angles.

Thanks for taking the time to review our new FlipStand case. We are currently working on an iPad air version – hope to have it out within the next few months!
