Apple added a nifty new feature to iOS 6 that adds a splash of color to the status bar. Rather than being just black or silver, the status bar now changes to match the color scheme of the app you’re running. In Skype, for example, it goes bright blue, while in the eBay app it goes grey.
I’m a big fan of this feature, but I know a lot of users don’t. With that said, if you’d like to kill it, you’ll be delighted to hear there’s a new tweak for jailbroken devices that does just that.
It’s called AntiTint, and it was created by Ryan Petrich, the developer behind all kinds of popular tweaks and apps for jailbroken devices. Once installed, AntiTint quite simply prevents the status bar from changing color; it just remains black at all times — no matter which app you open up.
Unfortunately, it’s not quite the same as the iOS 5 status bars, which switched between black and silver. But right now, it’s the best alternative there is to iOS 6’s colorful status bars. What’s more, it’s absolutely free. You can find it in Cydia now.

since we don’t have an official jailbreak for ios 6, how would one have access to cydia to perform this tweak?
Maybe it’s just the OCD Designer in me but I love the colour status bars. It always annoyed me before how apps never matched up. :3
How exactly does this work w/o a current jailbreak??? lol BTW, Cult of Mac…the popup ads on your mobile site are deplorable and make it UNUSABLE…PLEASE FIX!
That was exactly what I was thinking…
How the hell are you supposed to make use of this pointless article when you can’t jailbreak iOS 6 yet?
