There’s no need to string HDMI cables between your Mac and TV with Hyper Mirror. This accessory streams video with the mmWave technology normally found in 5G networks.
Connect a computer to an external display with no wires or additional software. A Wi-Fi network also isn’t necessary.
Take your video wireless with Hyper Mirror
One part of Hyper Mirror connects to the USB-C port on a computer or phone. This component can also use HDMI. The other half of the accessory attaches to the HDMI port on the TV.
Hyper Mirror communicates between the two components over mmWave frequencies to provide 2K (2048 by 1080 pixel) video at 60 frames per second. The developer promises “zero latency.” Range is up to 16 feet (5m) but a line-of-sight connection is required.
Launching on Kickstarter
Hyper Mirror went up on the crowd-funding site Kickstarter today. It’s already been fully funded so the project is moving ahead. It’s scheduled to begin shipping in August 2020.
The “Early Bird” price is $99. Once those have been claimed, the price jumps up to $109, and later it’ll be $119.
Rival replacements for HDMI cables are already on the market. IOGear SharePro Mini uses Wi-Fi frequencies but doesn’t require a hotspot. And there’s a USB-C version, the IOGear Sharer Pro.
