Carrier Unlock For iOS 4.3.2 Now Available

By •

Ultrasnow

If you’re on iOS 4.3.2 and fancy taking a joyride on another company’s network besides the one you are indentured to, good news: the iPhone Dev Team has released Ultrasnow 1.2.2, which will allow you to unlock iOS 4.3.2 on both the iPhone 4 and on the iPhone 3GS.

If you’re on the 3GS, you’ll need to be both jailbroken and on the 06.15.00 baseband, which is easy enough to do… *cough*.

Once accomplished and rocking either an iPhone 4 or an iPhone 3GS with baseband 06.15.00 restored, you’ll need to preserve the old baseband and grab Ultrasnow through Cydia. The process is a bit complicated, and sometimes results in test participant implosion, so follow this tutorial for a walkthrough on getting through the carrier unlock process safely.

John, what is the proper version of Redsn0w to unlock the iPhone 4 and is it working on the iPad 2.

The article is somewhat misleading. You should mention that this doesn’t unlock any new basebands, but just makes things a little more compatible with iOS 4.3.2 for devices that rely on an older baseband unlock.

Totally agreed. My jaw dropped when first reading this – only to realize it doesnt unlock any new basebands.

Totally agree. Articles like this should be more careful not to create expectations which can’t be met. The first sentence makes it sound like ANYONE on 4.3.2 will be able to unlock, then the bubble is burst much later, in the third paragraph. Sloppy, or intentional false hope, either way, thumbs down.

Does this mean they are closer to an iPhone 4 ios 4.3.1/4.3.2 unlock for newer basebands?

Plus I’m pretty sure you’ve been able to unlock with 6.15.00 baseband for ages, as has been said, this sounds like they’ve updated it for 4.3.2 iOS.

This is just sloppy reporting, and makes me question whether they understand unlocking

Yes this is completely misleading, I have already jailbroke and unlocked severaly 3gs iPhones during the last week on 4.3.1 and 4.3.2. This is not anything new, you are only using this to bring readers in to your site…..

Would somebody mind sharing a link with good information for those of us who don’t understand unlocking?
