Always dreamed of working for Apple, but lacking the necessary electrical engineering qualification or MBA to get a look in? Don’t worry: there’s a new job you can apply for to get your foot in the door.

Apple is currently searching for a Barista at its Visitor Center in the Bay Area, for a role that will fit anyone looking for a “unique role blending culinary arts with exceptional service.”

The job will include responsibility for the coffee bar, health & safety standards, and guest relations. Most important of all, however, Apple notes that, “you must be able to make a stellar espresso!”

Although it sounds like this role will be mainly customer-facing, you shouldn’t underestimate the attachment that Apple employees have for a “stellar” espresso. In his book, Jony Ive: The Genius behind Apple’s Greatest Products, Cult of Mac publisher Leander Kahney talks about the high-end $3,000 Italian Grimac espresso machine that previously featured in Ive’s design lab, before being replaced for alternate model when that one started leaking.

That kind of dedication to the cause is the type of thing you’ll want to bring up at the job interview, with the description noting that it’s looking for someone with the “attention to detail and passion for hand-crafting coffee” in a way that transforms guests’ espresso into a “special à la latte art.”

Oh, and it doesn’t hurt to be “well-groomed in appearance,” with a willingness to endure, “environmental exposure to cold, heat and water,” too.

Hey, there’s got to be a reason why guests are willing to shell out six figures for a single cup of coffee at Apple!

How much does this gig pay? I highly doubt they are paying 6 figures to make coffee, even though that’s what it costs to live in a dump in the Bay Area. People are having to spend $2,000/month to live in a dumpy apartment.

They’ll give up and put “Starbucks” or “DD” inside.

Having work as a barista I can’t imagine the nightmare that position could be at Apple, the richer they go the more complex the drinks and the worshippers attitude towards baristas. Not worth it.

I got hit with a bad case of autocorrect: instead of “worshippers” replace with “worst”
