Despite the fact that Brother’s new, top-of-the-line all-in-one inkjet printer looks like a swarthy behemoth, Brother says the MFC-J6920dw is actually 35 percent smaller than comparable competitor’s models.

Brother achieves this through something they call “Landscape Print Technology,” a feature it introduced last year that lets the printers output to large pages from printers with relatively small footprints.

Along with the dual paper trays, high-capacity ink reservoirs and 20 22 pages-per-minute color print speeds, the J6920dw has the ability to print, scan and fax large, ledger-sized 11×17-inch sheets.

Since the J6920dw is equipped with an NFC radio, printing from or scanning to an NFC-equipped device can be accomplished by firing up Brother’s iPrint&Scan Android app (there’s an iOS version too, but it can’t be used for NFC printing from an iDevice since Apple devices aren’t yet equipped with NFC chips).

The J6920dw is $300 and available now. The series is slated to add two additional models priced at $250 and $229 later this month.
