There are many reasons to envy the British. Marmite. Branston Pickle. Savory Pies. First Run Doctor Who. Kelly Brook. Now there’s a new reason to envy them: they can pick up an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2 for just £99, or around $162.
The deal comes via Orange Mobile, albeit with a few caveats. You must be an existing Orange UK subscriber willing to sign a two year contract with direct debit and non-itemized billing.
Tthe plan you need to sign up for is pretty pricy at around £65 a month ($106). That comes with 600 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited BT Openzone WiFi and 2GB shared 3G data across both devices.
To put that in perspective, T-Mobile will sell you an iPhone 4 with a roughly equivalent plan for £99.99 and £35.75 a month. That said, to get an iPad 2 covered on T-Mobile would cost you an additional £25.00 a month, and that doesn’t even come with a free tablet.
At the end of the day, whether this deal is worth it to you has a lot to do with how little data you think you can get by with on your phone. If you’re an existing Orange customer in Britain though, we’d give this deal some thought! We know we’d be tempted to bite if it came to At&T or Verizon.

Yep, we’re real lucky. What with all the WAAY higher priced Macs, iPads, iPods etc.
Wörth knowing that both Orange and T-Mobiles Network have very recently been judged as lacking in their performance of data.
UK providers with 24 months contract are purely rip-offs, as your bills will always go higher every month.
Free numbers (08xx) aren’t free – in fact you can pay up to around £1 per minute – oh and mms? Forget it.
Go abroad, and it will be cheaper for you to text to foreign mobiles. Crazy, huh?
yh.. no americans have everything better.. its dirt cheap. i had to pay around 300 for my iphone and its still on a 30£ a month contract. with hardly any minutes and hardly any mobile internet allowance lol
What the hell are savory pies ? Do’ya mean pork pies ? Ginster’s steak pies ?
hi, 3 in ireland offer, iphone 4 free with 15gb data (also can be for tethering, unlike o2 and vodafone in which you need a separate data plans) 350 flex units (1 unit = 1 minute call or 2 text messages) and a free add on, thats the best deal in ireland
Erm, worth noting that T-Mobile and Orange are the same company. They’re called Everything Everywhere.
Holy crap…that’s a steal. I’d do that in a SECOND.
$829 for both the base 3G iPad2 and a base iPhone 4 in the US – that’s with a 2 yr commitment to the iPhone plan and comes with no service on the iPad. So again I say – that’s a STEAL at $162.
Cheap Apple device. Makes a change from getting ripped off with Apple’s magical currency conversion tool…
Canned hot dogs. Corn on pizza (and just about everything). Jacket (baked) potato with baked beans. Or tuna. “Lemon Ade:” not “squash, which we call ade, but a weak, fizzy drink.
On the other hand they also have Tesco Ginger Nut cookies (the cheap ones!), and Paprika Pringles. And the UK will always win until we can get Hob Nobs (Nobbly Oatey Goodness!).
but if you compare it to 3 its a shit deal. The Orange deal costs £1699 for 2GB of data where as 3 you get 15GB iPad + Unlimited data on the iPhone for £1738 and 2000 mins plus 5000 texts Vs Orange’s 600 mins and Unlimited texts its obvious! Note: they are the total cost of ownership.
Yeah, we have it good in Blighty.
Warm, flat beer – like it should be.
Pork pies worth their weight in gold.
Tea up to your knees.
Cheese and then more cheese – Stilton anyone?
Marmite, even if you hate it in Britian you’re still a fan of it.
HP Sauce – because there is NO other option on a bacon butty.
More curry houses than you can shake a nann at.
Powerful cider that addles the mind as well as the liver.
A strange love of sheds.
Radio 4.
These are the things that stop us revolting and ripping our overpriced, unfair, hugely London centric country apart.
