A 9-year-old boy battling leukemia was granted his wish to develop an iPhone game.
Owain Weinert, who has pre-B Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, asked the Make-a-Wish Foundation to develop a mobile game. His wish was granted: the game, called Allied Star Police, launched in the Apple App Store Thursday. Developed with Seattle firm 4th & Battery, it’s offered gratis and also comes in an iPad version.
Owain wanted to create something that he’d want to play — so the result is a rollicking arcade-style game “featuring a combination of tower defense and real-time strategy gameplay.”
Dubbed as a “classic good vs. evil story set in a futuristic fictional world,” it’s rated ages 9+ for mild cartoon or fantasy violence.
“Owain was like every other designer and developer I’ve worked with,” said Matthew Lee Johnston, senior producer at 4th & Battery. “The minute he walked in the door he handed us a fully realized game design, figured out to the last detail…When he first sat down to play it, he naturally knew what to do and won his first round easily, which felt to us like we did a good job executing on his plan.”
After all that work, is it what Owain hoped it would be?
“My brother can’t stop playing it, my dad can’t stop playing it, and neither can I,” Owain said. “This started off as a dream of mine and now my friends and people all over the world can play my creation.”

Fantastic story. Really touching.
Wonderful!
As a fellow cancer patient, I applaud him for getting his dream to become a reality. God bless him and all my hopes and prayers for his recovery and God bless the company that helped him in making his dream into a reality and helping him bring fun and excitement to other kids world wide!
iPhone games? Ha-ha-ha! X-Box 360 it’s cool! iPhone shit ! Gaming Platform Android 2.3 for HTC much better iOS (used by queers)!
So you come onto a Apple Fansite, bash the iPhone and its users and indirectly insult the cancer patient. Very Classy.
Good job arsehat.
Back on topic, as someone who has survived the very cancer this child is fighting I think this is awesome for him. I’m going to download it on my iPhone right now.
Do you have any sympathy? I guess you android users don’t. This is about a poor kid with cancer who has created something great, not a competition about iOS v Android. You need to get a life and piss off back to your android den.
Hats off for his product as a nine year old man and applauds for his courage to develop games besides battling cancer.
Back into topic, check this funny iPhone app.

Look at his post history.. He is a dumbfuck Russian who barely knows any English, that has literally NEVER made a post on this site that wasn’t trollish.
Do you speak Russian? ))) No? I thought as much. ))) Only English… Do not be surprised if you’re gay.
I hope that you will not think that all Russian like this sucker, perhaps he simply did’t have enough money for the Apple products :)
The usual idea is that you would use NFC to set up the link between the two devices and then do an automatic hand over to a different protocol for doing the actual transfer of data – eg Bluetooth, iphone 5
