Apple introduced iPhone Mirroring with iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia in 2024. But due to regulatory concerns, Apple never launched the feature in the EU.

iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe won’t change that, with Apple confirming it has no plans to bring iPhone Mirroring to Macs in the European Union anytime soon.

No iPhone Mirroring for EU users

As the name indicates, iPhone Mirroring lets you mirror your iPhone’s screen to your Mac. You can even use all the installed apps on your iPhone from your Mac. The feature works almost like magic and shows the deep integration between iPhones and Macs.

However, soon after unveiling the feature at WWDC24, Apple announced it wouldn’t bring iPhone Mirroring, SharePlay Screen Sharing and Apple Intelligence. This was “due to the regulatory uncertainties brought about by the Digital Markets Act” in the EU.

While Apple eventually rolled out Apple Intelligence in the EU, iPhone Mirroring remains unavailable. And iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe won’t change that. French blog Numerama spoke to several Apple executives during WWDC25 about iPhone Mirroring’s possible expansion to the European Union.

Sadly, the executives confirmed Apple’s stance on the feature’s rollout has not changed. While the company is “working to make all these new features compatible, but still has too many doubts about how the European Union might judge its capabilities. For now, iPhone Mirroring remains blocked, with the hope of making it work everywhere once the brand and its lawyers find a solution,” says the report.

Apple treading carefully due to the Digital Markets Act

While Apple executives didn’t share more details, the EU’s Digital Markets Act still appears to be the major roadblock in the feature’s rollout. The Act might also prevent Apple from bringing the iPhone’s Phone app to Mac users with Tahoe.

Bringing iPhone Mirroring to the EU could force Apple to also enable Android phone mirroring to comply with the EU’s regulations. This likely explains its hesitation in rolling out the feature.
