Apple Updates iTunes Global Pricing

iTunes users outside the U.S. will want to consult Apple’s new prices, which Wednesday were changed to be more in align with the American dollar. Some countries came out winners, while some foreign users may end up paying more.


Australia, which had made some noise about the pricing differences, is now in line with iTunes’ domestic 99-cent model, dropping from a previous $1.19. Meanwhile, the U.K., Norway and Mexico had their iTunes prices adjusted upwards.

New international iTunes pricing:

  • UK: £0.69 (Was £0.59)
  • Australia: A$0.99 (Was $1.19)
  • Japan: ¥85 (Was ¥115)
  • Mexico: Mex$12 (Was Mex$10)
  • Switzerland: 1.0Fr (Was 1.10Fr)
  • Norway: 7.00kr (Was 6.00kr)

    Yet again, the UK gets screwed on pricing; and to think that Steve Jobs once described the UK as “The most polite society…the most pleasant country…”

    Cool picture.  Seeing that it is licensing under the CC BY-NC-ND 2.0 license, which forbids commercial use, I presume that you have obtained permission from its owner to use it?

    Ah, as usual, the pricing for the UK increases. It’s not a huge amount, but I’m pretty sure the iWork apps were ÂŁ5.99 yesterday, and now their ÂŁ6.99 (the day I downloaded them :P)
