After a short amount of time offline, the Apple Online Store is back up and running — selling a refreshed line of iPods, featuring some feature upgrades, and a nifty new gold color option.
Apple has released new iPod shuffle, nano, and touch devices, representing the first major upgrade for the product lines since way back in 2012. While the shuffle and nano both get the new gold color — alongside five other color options — the biggest upgrade is reserved for the iPod touch.
The touch now boasts an 8-megapixel camera which brings it in line with the iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2, as well as a 64-bit A8 processor and Bluetooth 4.1.
The 16GB iPod touch costs $199, the 32GB model costs $249, 64GB model costs $299, and the 128GB iPod touch will set you back $399.
In addition to the gold, silver, space gray, pink and blue color options, Apple is also offering a Product Red iPod color options in support of the elimination of HIV/AIDS in Africa. Unlike the other color options, this will be sold exclusively through Apple.
While history suggests that these are likely to be the last iPod overhauls for a while, it’s certainly nice to see Apple dust off the product line which helped turn around its fortunes back in the early 2000s.

Excellent news!!
Great update! Time to get my daughter a new iPod I guess. This looks like a gigantic improvement in the iPod line. Glad its still alive.
iPod touch is basically for kids whose parents don’t trust them with an iPhone quite yet.
I use a 120Gb Classic as a dedicated music player in my car. The 128Gb option is very welcome; I can now update to newer device and I like having a dedicated player for the car that can hold my entire library.
Err. No. I use an iPod so that I get the same experience as iPhone users at a fraction of the cost.
The home button should be replaced by an analogue joystick like the psp´s. This would make the ipod so, so much better and fun.
Does it have USB-C ?
No. Do you even know Apple?
Yes.
Do you?
Yep. You clearly don’t if you have to ask if these have USB-C.
So what exactly do you claim is the rule here?
If you “know Apple” you know their new products wont have USB-C?
…except those who do?
Or what?
Okay, I’ll dumb it down since you’re clearly a moron:
Apple has used its own connector standard on mobile devices for over 10 years because they are superior. They don’t need USB-C on these because Lightning is a superior interface. All current iPhones, iPads, and iPods have Lightning. The ONLY Apple product with USB-C is the new MacBook, which is a brand new category. Apple has yet to prove if it is going to add it to any more products (but likely will in October to the new MBPs, while keeping a USB-A port or two).
So they tend to use one connector, until they start using another one?
And therefore everyone who think they might change connector
…is a moron?
Yep, cant argue with that logic.
Here is what I think:
In a couple of years Apple will either be using the same connector as every-F-one on the planet, USB-C.
Or you will be stuck using old incompatible extra special crap.
Either way;
Sucks to be you.
*thud*
Thanks for confirming you have no clue how any of this works. Stick to commenting on things you understand, dumbass.
Must be hell under there.
You mean up here above your intellect? Yeah, it’s hell dealing with retards like you.
Why on earth are they putting 16GB in a device like this?
