Apple has promised that iTunes Match will launch for US customers by the end of the month, and now they are starting to roll out preparations for it to users of iOS 5, namely by turning on the iTunes Match setting under the ‘Music’ settings pane for both developers and us plebs.
Of course, for regular users, this won’t mean much: Apple has yet to allow normal users to pay the $24.99 and sign-up for iTunes Match. In fact, iTunes Match isn’t even baked into iTunes 10.5, with the functionality shuffled over to the 10.5.1 Beta instead.
So iTunes Match is coming, probably within the next week or so. Of course, whether it is ready for prime time is a very different question, as issues with the service abound for developers. In fact, internally, most of our writers have not been able to get our libraries to dependably sync with iTunes Match. The launch of iCloud might have gone well, but expect a bumpy ride when iTunes Match goes live.

I’m still extremely concerned about what will happen to songs that I’ve purchased from two different accounts. Â Will they all upload to one account so I don’t have to worry about it? I have some purchases that are from the old DRM days. Â I realize that anything I purchase now is non-DRM so it should sync just fine, but wondering about the older purchases. Â Maybe it will be best to burn to CD and re-inport as AAC? Â
Can I get iTunes Match if I do not have a credit card? When I click on iTunes Match to sign up it gives me the option to redeem an iTunes gift card but I don’t know if it will work. Can somebody confirm this, please?
Ive been using iTunes Match for a couple weeks now. It did not allow me to register two accounts. I had to burn them to disc just like you suggested. There have been some issue with it that I have seen but hopefully it is fixed by the time it goes live for everybody.Â
Thats not true. they still have plenty of DRM m4p content in the itunes store. I thought they got rid of that ages ago but im constantly trying to que songs in traktor and low and behold song wont play because of DRM. straight BS.Â
