Apple Store Sends Message To Earthquake Victims in Japan

By

applecom-japan-20110312

It looks like the Apple Japan store has posted a message about the earthquake  — if you can help us translate it (they’ve posted it as an image, so there’s no way to copy and paste it for a robot-translation) we’d be much obliged.

Here’s a translation sent in by Cult of Mac readers @nick_gmit,  @Sugarless_GiRL_ , @Ignignokt:

“To those who have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami, we send sympathies from our heart – In this deep …sadness, we are praying for the victims and their families.”

While we’re on topic,  Apple also set up donations through iTunes for the Red Cross to help victims of the earthquake and tsunami, as it did after the earthquake in Haiti.

Apple has waived their usual 30% cut and donations start in increments of $5.

“Apple has waived their 30% cut” gee that’s nice… Purdy much why I don’t donate anymore. Haiti is still waiting for donated money…

I believe that Haitians are waiting for money PLEDGED by other governments, but not actually donated yet. Many countries are tight now or just like to pledge and then renege. But others have concerns about how to spend the money effectively. I would imagine that actual donations to orgs like the RC are mostly effective. Many people have donated their time there, especially medical industry. A cousin of mine volunteered a week in the heat and humidity to do occupational therapy. The need is still great. Japan has far more resources, but this disaster is huge. Really, you don’t need to make up excuses for not donating a few bucks.

Amen, do the rite thing! The excuse people come up with for not going into their pockets is INSANE.

“Apple has waived their 30% cut.” You are mixing up the policies of the App Store and the iTunes Store. Each disaster has had a link to the Red Cross on iTunes store so this is nothing new. You are turning an act of philanthropy by Apple to generate huge donations into your personal “App Store” rant. A little sensational don’t you think?
