Every major iPhone announcement is accompanied with a new iPod touch announcement, and this year is no different. There’s a new iPod touch, a new iPod nano and a new iPod shuffle.
Apple’s starting with a new iPod nano, which they want to reinvent.
“First we want to give it a large display. Give it nice controls. Make it thin and light. And of course, the Lightning connector,” says Eddy Cue.
The new nano isn’t a watch anymore, it looks more like the previous generations: a longer, thinner touchscreen iPod. It’s 5.4mm and 38% thinner.
It has controls on the side, and an iPhone/iPod touch style home button. It also gets Bluetooth and an FM tuner, which are pretty awesome upgrades.
No price or availability yet.

Nice device, but dear God at that design. They bassicaly carbon copied Lumia 800, shrunk it and then added few finishing touches to make it uglier
I’m truly shocked
Why is it bigger? I bought the little iPod nano with the touch screen and the clip on the back. Its great for the gym / jogging because you get the iPod shuffle style but you can still see your playlists. They should have kept that design. But I guess they’re caught up with giving every product they make bigger touch screens.
Where is the iWatch? I thought one of the real draws to the nano, was the ability to use it as a watch. This is an iPhone mini me. I wonder if they changed it because they have an iWatch in the works, and didn’t want the nano to fill that hole.
Ugliest iPod design to date. Really disappointed
I think this is actually the most exciting announcement today
Lame! I’m waiting for the iWatch.
I wish the iPhone had this design actually
