Earlier today Apple released a minor update for Apple TV owners. HD iTunes Store previews have been added for movies and TV shows alongside several bug fixes and stability improvements.
- Previews for movies and TV shows from the iTunes Store can now be viewed in HD.
- Fixes an issue that caused some iOS apps to have trouble connecting via AirPlay.
- Improves the reliability of Home Sharing connections.
- Addresses an issue affecting Netflix login and navigation.
- Includes fixes for issues affecting stability and performance.
Version 5.0.1 of the iOS-based software can be downloaded now under General > Software Update in the Apple TV’s Settings menu. Apple released its major 5.0 update for the Apple TV alongside the third-gen model back in March. This is the first update since version 5.0, and 5.0.1 can be installed on both second and third-gen Apple TVs.

I’m comparing the Apple TV screen menu with my iPhone and iPad, and this one looks bad. No wonder Steve Jobs threw away this design. I wonder who had decided to bring it back. Tsk tsk …
Sorry to disagree with zviiz but this menu is an improvement on the old one easier to navigate around and more pleasant user experince all round.
What is “Verizon 5.0.1”? A new version of Verizon service? I hope this doesn’t mean I will be paying higher data fees… :/
