Today Apple released the iTunes Movie Trailers app for the iPhone and iPad. The app lets users watch HD trailers from the iTunes store.

Apple’s new app actually does much more than just show you upcoming movie trailers. You can also find movie showtimes at local theaters, purchase tickets, see a calendar view of upcoming movie releases, and view favorites.

“iTunes Movie Trailers puts the newest and most exclusive movie previews in HD in your hands. Browse trailers, clips, and featurettes for the biggest Hollywood blockbusters and independent cinema; view stunning HD photos; explore a year-long calendar of movie releases; find showtimes near you and get ticket info directly from your iPad or iPhone.”

You can save images from the app to your iPad’s camera roll, browse top charts and box office rankings, email and tweet trailers to friends, and stream trailers in HD to your Apple TV with AirPlay.

On iOS 5, iCloud will let you sync your favorite theaters and movies between your devices.

Download iTunes Movie Trailers for free in the App Store today.

Sadly, if you want to purchase movie tickets, theaters with reserved seating will redirect you to Fandago’s website, which requires Flash to view the seat map.

Not available internationally it seems :/
I could understand the tickets part not being, I’d be fine with that, but I’d love to have the rest of the app…

i love this app! i am one of the few people who actually goes through the theatrical trailers a few times a month and downloads all the cool ones. This is sooo much better, and it seems it might beat out the two or three other apps i have for movie times.

Exactly!!  Given how small the world is now it bothers me when apps aren’t made international.  Take out the ticket part until you can partner with something local.  Same with Amazon, take out US specific items and let me use it in Canada!!

Love the app. Now make it available for Macs to compensate for dumping my favorite Apple-only application- Front Row!
