Apple has set a groundbreaking price for its high school textbooks. Thanks to the partnerships between top publishers Pearson, McGraw Hill, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Apple will be able to offer high school textbooks for $14.99 or less.

These publishers are responsible for 90% of the textbooks available today. Apple calls iBooks 2 “the next chapter in learning.” DK Publishing is also partnering with Apple to bring children’s books to the iPad. The E.O. Wilson foundation is also on board. All of these titles can be accessed via the new textbooks category in the iBookstore. These types of textbooks can be created with the free iBooks Author app.
