Apple has moved to trademark the “Advertising Re-Imagined” slogan used to promote its iAd mobile advertising platform. The Cupertino company filed for the trademark on Wednesday, September 25, more than three years after it launched the iAd business.

You may be unfamiliar with iAds, but it’s likely you’ve stumbled across them at some point within free iOS apps. They’re typically small banner ads that appear at the top or bottom of your display, and they turn into neat interactive features when you tap on them.

Apple launched iAd to provide developers and advertisers with a more attractive and more engaging way to distribute mobile advertisements, and to compete with Google’s AdMob service, which has long been the number one choice for mobile app and game makers.

The “Advertising Re-Imagined” slogan has been used by Apple to promote its service for some time, and now the company wants to trademark it.

Patently Apple reports that the trademark filing was made under the International Class 035 category, which covers “business services, namely design, creation, preparation, production, and dissemination of advertisements and advertising materials for others; advertising and marketing consultation; business services, namely, dissemination of advertising for others via computer networks and global communication networks.”

The example Apple used in its filing is pictured above.

Makes me laugh… Apple should be more concerned with innovation than trademarks. No wonder devs are talking more about Airpush, MM, and Tapjoy than iAd….
