Apple just released OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion a month ago, and now it’s already got an update. If you click “Software Update…” from your Apple icon menu, 10.8.1 should be ready to download. The update weighs only 24.2MB, and is mostly just a bunch of bug fixes, but you can read the full notes here:
The 10.8.1 update is recommended for all OS X Mountain Lion users and includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability and compatibility of your Mac. The 10.8.1 update also includes fixes that:
– Resolve an issue that may cause Migration Assistant to unexpectedly quit
– Improve compatibility when connecting to a Microsoft Exchange server in Mail
– Address an issue playing audio through a Thunderbolt display
– Resolve an issue that could prevent iMessages from being sent
– Address an issue that could cause the system to become unresponsive when using Pinyin input
– Resolve an issue when connecting to SMB servers with long names
– Address a issue that may prevent Safari from launching when using a Proxy Automatic Configuration (PAC) file
– Improve 802.1X authentication with Active Directory credentials.

My 10.8.1 update is 4.34GB. Not sure why so much larger.
Just updated and my battery life on my rMBP has increased immensely!
Just as I click software update, Time Warner Internet stops working! Grrr..,
Is this the infamous battery performance increase update.!
Hmmm mine was 7.28mb!! Strange!
I keep having random sounds now that I have updated. Sounds like I am pulling items off the dock! :S
Cracked it! Sounds had switched back on in iMessage, all my Facebook contacts were doing it…
im assuming its a free update?
but to bad i cant run it on my imac g5.
Hoping it fixes some safari bugs. We’ll see.
Same here. And installed, restarted & back again within 2 minutes. Suck on that, Microsoft!
I just updated and my screen turns a shade of blue when I open apps or Finder windows. -_______-
Seems like my machine is still running hot. Will have to check the battery life yet…
Still running hot even when surfing the net, and battery life still poor even though its better than it was. This whole update seems like a Microsoft thing rather than Apple. Come on Cupertino, lets get this straight!
