One of the biggest upgrades to the iPhone 5, though, is the new 8-pin dock connector. It’s called Lightning, and its going to throw third party accessory makers into havok.

“We use wireless to do a lot of what we used to use cables for,” says Scholler, correctly. “So a lot has changed, and it’s time for the connector to evolve. Our new connector is called Lightning. So we have Thunderbolt and Lightning.”

What is Lightning? All digital. 8-pins instead of 30. Adaptive interface and improved durability. Reversible, easier to use, 80% smaller.

And if you want an adapter? No problem, Apple’s selling one.
