At least three of Apple’s Cupertino Campus buildings and Hewlett-Packard’s headquarters were shut down as police chase the suspect of a multiple homicide.
Radio station KQED’s extensive reporting during the day has it that suspect Shareef Allman, an employee of a Cupertino quarry, was at an early work meeting this morning attended by around 15 employees. Allman left the meeting, returned with an automatic rifle and a handgun then shot eight people, killing three, wounding seven others.
The female HP employee was shot in a carjacking attempt at an HP parking lot a few hours later by a gunman matching the description of Allman. SWAT teams are outside the HP headquarters and a number of local schools have been closed.
Allman, 45, was named as the producer of a show called Real 2 Real on San Jose’s CreatTV. (YouTube clips of the program featuring Allman have been removed). In a one interview, he described himself as a miner who drives heavy equipment. He also wrote a book called “Amazing Grace,” a book intended to empower women against domestic violence.
After placing several calls to Apple’s switchboard to inquire of the company’s campus wide status, Apple operators confirmed to Wired.com the lockdown.
