Weeks after launch, Apple has quietly reduced Studio Display XDR’s price by $400. The monitor now starts from $2,899, down from $3,299.
The reduced price only applies to the Studio Display XDR with the VESA mount adapter.
New lower starting price for Studio Display XDR
The Studio Display XDR replaces the Pro Display XDR in Apple’s monitor lineup. Announced in February, it’s the company’s flagship new monitor featuring a 27-inch mini-LED panel with 5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
At $3,299, the Studio Display XDR is already significantly cheaper than the $5,000+ Pro Display XDR it replaces. With the latest price reduction from Apple, the gap is even bigger.
The lower price only applies to the Pro Display XDR with the VESA mount. Apple has also cut $400 off the nano-texture variant, reducing its price to $3,199.
Pricing for the monitor with the stand remains unchanged. It’s still priced at $3,299 for the standard glass and $3,599 for the nano-texture option.
The lower starting price for the VESA variant makes sense, as it does not come with the height and tilt-adjustable stand.
To go along with the lower price, Apple has adjusted the purchase flow for the Studio Display XDR on its website. The configurator now defaults to the model with the stand. So you’ll need to remove it to see the lower VESA mount pricing.
If you have already purchased a Studio Display XDR with VESA mount at full price through an Apple retail or online store, the company will automatically refund the price adjustment. You’ll be informed once this happens.
This price cut only applies to the Studio Display XDR. The $1,599 Studio Display costs the same, with or without the VESA mount.
One response to “Apple drops Studio Display XDR price, but there’s a catch”
Ghey… 32” is replaced by a 27”? I get that the specs are better but I want a 32” 6K 120Hz Apple quality monitor. That is what a good many of us were expecting. Samsung has announced a 32” 6K 165Hz display that will surely cost less than this, and LG and ASUS are not far behind. Of course Apple’s build quality is second to none, but add the cost of the stand and it’s back to $3299. That’s more than my MacBook Pro M4 Max cost. And it’s only 27 inches! What the heck Apple? You guys used to push the envelope. No way I’m paying $3299 plus tax for a 27” 5K monitor, no matter how good it looks. I need real estate.
