Apple’s SVP of Marketing, Greg Joswiak, teased the imminent launch of the M5 MacBook Pro on X today.
“Mmmmm… something powerful is coming,” Joswiak said on X, with his post accompanied by a short clip giving a quick glimpse at the upcoming MacBook Pro.
M5 MacBook Pro and iPad Pro launch soon
Rumors point to Apple unveiling the M5-powered iPad Pro and base 14-inch MacBook Pro later this week. Since these devices will sport modest upgrades, Apple will directly announce them via a press release. It won’t hold a press event.
To stir up excitement ahead of the launch, Apple’s SVP of Marketing, Greg Joswiak, posted a teaser on X. The short clip shows a MacBook Pro forming a “V” shape — a clever nod to the Roman numeral for 5, hinting at the arrival of the M5 chip.

The M4 MacBook Pro and iPad Pro are already in short supply at Apple’s retail stores, indicating their replacement is around.
Don’t expect any major upgrades
A Russian YouTuber has unboxed the M5 iPad Pro already. His video confirmed that the tablet won’t pack any meaningful upgrades besides a faster chip. It should be the same story with the M5 MacBook Pro.
If the leaked benchmarks are anything to go by, the M5 chip should deliver major performance and efficiency gains. Taking a cue from the iPhone 17’s A19 chip, each GPU core could sport dedicated neural accelerators. That should help boost AI performance significantly.
Apple will seemingly only unveil the base MacBook Pro with the M5 chip for now. The more powerful models with M5 Pro and Max chips will supposedly only arrive in Q1 2026.
Alongside the new MacBook and iPad Pro, Apple may also launch the M5-powered Vision Pro, a new Apple TV, and HomePod mini.
