Apple’s Education Store in the US and Canada now requires UNiDAYS verification. This brings the store’s policy in line with the rest of the world.
Going forward, to be eligible for a student discount on Apple products, you’ll need an active UNiDAYS account.
Apple tightens Education Store discount rules
Apple offers Macs, iPads and other accessories at discounted prices through its educational store to students and teachers. The discount typically ranges from $100 to $200.
In the US and Canada, you could buy Apple products from the company’s Education Store without any verification. This is unlike in Europe and other countries, where Apple requires UNiDAYS verification for student discounts.
Going forward, the same rule will apply in the US as well. Like in other countries, you can only complete a purchase through the Apple Education Store after verifying your student or teacher status with a UNiDAYS account. This will require access to an email address given by your school or university, student ID, or another relevant, valid document.
In my experience, UNiDAYS verification happens within minutes. But in case there’s a delay, the issue is typically resolved within 24 hours.
Besides the US and Canada, UNiDAYS verification is now also required in Australia, Hong Kong and Turkey.
Apple Watch joins Apple’s Education Store
Apple Education Store provides discounts on almost all Apple products. The Apple Watch was the only missing piece, but it is now available in the store as well.
Eligible students and teachers can buy the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3 or the Apple Watch SE (3rd generation) from Apple’s Education Store with up to 10% off. The watch is available in most markets, including the US, Australia, India, France, the UK, Spain and others.
