In what sounds more like a court case between a feuding couple than two tech rivals, The notoriously-secretive Apple reportedly described Samsung’s demand to get a peak at unannounced iPhones and iPads as “attempts to harass.”
Samsung, which has been described as Apple’s corporate “frenemy,” is on the counter-attack after a San Jose, Calif. court ordered the Galaxy smartphone maker to show Apple early versions of its handset and tablet. In April Apple sued Samsung, charging the company used the iPhone and iPad “technology, user interface and innovative style.”
Following a June 13 deadline set by Samsung to turn over “final, commercial versions” of Apple’s next iPhone and iPad, the Cupertino, Calif. used court papers to jab at the Galaxy smartphone maker, referring to the company as “the copyist.” Additionally, in court papers, Apple rejected Samsung’s request for preview copies of its technology, arguing Apple is not accused of mimicking Samsung devices.

Apple is only suing Samsung because Samsung has became a threat. It has nothing to deal with copying. And if it (really) had to do with copying, why has apple included particular models that do not at all look like an apple copy? (ex. Samsung Nexus S)
If this (lawsuit) really had anything to deal with Samsung copying Apple, Apple would have sued well over a year ago, not suddenly a year later after it becomes (extremely) popular and when the second generation is expected to be a lot more popular than the first. If I remember correctly it was unveiled in March of 2010 and went on sale on June 4, 2010. Why did apple wait until May of 2011 to sue then? (or was it late april?)
Please … you are just guessing here.
The Nexus S is included because the suit is about more than just trade dress, it has multiple parts (software/hardware, etc.) It’s also more likely that the suit was brought when it was brought because that is the moment when it could be brought than any conspiracy theory.
And, it’s “get a peek”, not “get a peak”.
Agree: The galaxy S2 is looking to be the best selling android phone of all time single handedly I expect this phone to raise androids market share by another 5-10% worldwide.
And that share is coming directly from dissatisfied apple customers.
