iTunes Match went live earlier today as a beta, but Apple apparently can’t handle the demand: it’s already temporarily unavailable for new subscribers, who are being told to “check back in an hour.”
Honestly, want our advice? Check back in a week. Even in developer beta, iTunes Match took ages to match our libraries, and a million people hammering on the service on launch day isn’t going to help matters.

Bad news if you have a large library of songs. I have about double what Apple would handle for the $25, so I assumed I could either (a) pay more or (b) select only 25,000 tunes for matching. Instead, iTunes just tells me I have too many songs so I can’t use matching.
I’m curious to know who’s mistake this is. My guess is the record labels.
I just signed up and am in the process of getting everything synced up. :) Had to search the web to get the iTunes 10.5.1 download, but once that happened, it took off! I was able to sign up for iTunes Match through the iTunes Store in 10.5, but nothing happened with Match until I upgraded to 10.5.1. Good stuff so far!
I just signed up for iTunes match with no problems at all…. Might want to revise this article!
Out of interest why do you have so many songs?
Had no problem I just downloaded iTunes 10.5.1, installed Match, and no problem. It is now going through my entire library. Can’t match my 320kbps music though.
He likes music. A lot
I downloaded that new iTunes but I don’t see that iTunes match there in that software. Is that iTunes match only available for the Americans from the USA? GOD SAVE THE QUEEN! woot woot *sigh*
Correct. But there are larger libraries.

I think I have 70bg in my iTunes library (about 10K songs), and A LOT of it is not going to match (live concert downloads not available on itunes). I got the sync started around noon today EDT, we’ll see where I’m at when I get home tonight…
I had no problem either. I Downloaded iTunes 10.5.1 and than installed match. I only have ~600 or so song and the process was pretty quick since a lot was purchase on iTunes already. All my other songs were purchased from amazon mp3 so they all matched up. Now I am just trying figure out how to get everything to show up on my iPhone 3GS.
I guess so… seems a little excessive though!
Working great for me, have a small library with about 1500 songs, it matched 1200 and upload 300. I have a lot of obscure DJ remixes and stuff, I was surprised it matched so many of them!
I just tried to subscribe and I was told to check back later.
That`s really nice and necessary information for its users but I want to ask that what are the basics on which you are providing this information. Can you share the link or place from where you got this information? It will be helpful for me to read more about it.
