For the past hour or so it appears that iCloud has been undergoing widespread outages, with many users unable to log into their email accounts and iCloud.com.
Apple has acknowledged the problem, and is working to restore iCloud to its full glory once again.
The iCloud system status webpage gives up to date information on Apple’s cloud service. Here’s the most recent message:
While iCloud is down, you may not be able to use your email address, Photo Stream, or other iCloud services. In the Mail app, you’ll probably get prompts to re-enter your password. Just wait a little bit and everything should be back to normal.
We will update this page when there’s word that iCloud has been fully restored. In the meantime, is iCloud down for you?
Update: As of 15:29 PST, iCloud is back online.

iCloud Mail appears to be back up. Quite a few users in the forums are saying that they’re getting mail again.
still out. sort of screwy too – it erases all of your contact and calendars when the service has an outage. so much for cloud computing … back to the old standby since no one seems to be able to handle this except for Google.

I got a message saying my iCloud email password was incorrect a few hours ago. It seems to be okay now.

No iCloud problem here (Brooklyn, NY) at this time that I can see. Calendar events I created on iPhone earlier today showed up on iMac right away and iPad2 shortly (after I powered it up).

I love the services that iCloud offers, but this is getting ridiculous! Apple is a huge company with billions of dollars in resources to pour into iCloud, yet it seems to fail almost daily! Luckily, I don’t use it for email, but I do use it to keep my notes, contacts, and bookmarks synched with my iPhone and my other Mac. The company that I used to provide my personal email is far more reliable despite being a miniscule company compared to Apple. Often, I just disable iCloud in Mail until the problem goes away. I get sick of the stupid user name/password errors that pop up every few minutes.

I was never had a problem, but past few days it’s a pain in sss.

Well, so much for Apple going “Thermalnuclear.” To the pessimists who called this one, I tip my hat.
While they are at it, will they please fix iWork in the cloud so that I can manage PDF, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, files? Come on- Dropbox can do it but iWork in iCloud can’t?
