Can’t you just put in any ‘ol school on Apple’s website for their student discount and not only get it cheaper, but also get a $100 iTunes gift card and a printer?
and they are allowing profiteers to sell the standard $1299 13″ for $1450.
Ed discount + no tax from Amazon still isn’t as good a deal as $100 iTunes Gift Card. That student deal they run in the summer is usually a pretty decent offer.

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $675 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Not much of a deal. Amazon usually sells Apple products for 5% less and always offers free shipping.

I just purchased the 13″ Air w/256gb at Best Buy for $100 less than Apple Store.
You have to be eligible for the student discount though. Working stiffs like me are not.
His point is that there may not be a full vetting that you are a student and you could game the system
