What would happen if gruff ex-footballer Roy Kent from Ted Lasso underwent years of anger-management and sensitivity training? Well, if he managed not to go ballistic and end up in prison, he might look like Brett Goldstein’s new character in the romantic drama All of You. Apple TV+ dropped a new trailer for the Apple Original Film recently (watch below). And it does, indeed, appear to star a touchy-feely Roy Kent-ish guy, along with Imogen Poots.
And now you can see for yourself. Apple TV+ started streaming the new film on Friday.
Reviews so far are positive, if you like romance. The elements of sci-fi and humor may not be as prominent as I’d hoped. Tom’s Guide called the movie “one of the most pleasant surprises of 2025” and adds “it’ll leave you a sobbing mess.” The New York Times said “This weepy romance succeeds through the undeniable chemistry between Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots.” And Deadline likened it to another “romdram” on Apple TV+, director Christos Nikou’s Fingernails (2023) with Riz Ahmed and Jess Buckley.

The romantic drama All of You explores the age-old question of soulmates and missed connections, according to Apple TV+. Sounds pretty awful so far. And the trailer generally pushes that theme while pulling heartstrings. And yet I have hope I won’t hate the movie.
Goldstein, known for his improbable shift from Ted Lasso writer to cast member, co-wrote All of You with William Bridges, who previously wrote for the darkly satirical sci-fi anthology series Black Mirror. And Bridges also directs. So this new supposed tearjerker can’t be all about the heartstrings, can it?
Our story so far, according to Apple TV+
The film follows Simon (Goldstein) and Laura (Poots), best friends since their college days. They find themselves at a crossroads when Laura takes a test designed to identify her perfect match (see, there’s a scary algorithm at the root of the story). Despite years of unspoken romantic feelings between them, the test results threaten to pull them in different directions. As time passes and their lives intersect and separate repeatedly, both characters struggle with the nagging sense that they may have let their one true love slip away.
The central conflict revolves around a profound question: When faced with the possibility of altering the entire trajectory of their lives, will Simon and Laura find the courage to pursue the love that has long existed between them, or will they surrender to what seems like inevitable fate?
The trailer sets us up for an exhausting series of disappointing romantic near misses between the two leads, indicating no sure thing in the end. Well, I’m hoping for some darkly entertaining twists along the way, too.

Ted Lasso meets Black Mirror in new Apple Original Film
December 12, 2024: Emmy winner Brett Goldstein, who plays footballer-turned-coach Roy Kent on Apple TV+ hit comedy Ted Lasso, takes on dual roles as star and co-writer in the new romantic drama All of You, a movie set to debut on Apple TV+ in 2025, the streamer said Wednesday. It offered a “first look” image. And the other writer, who also directs? That’s none other than William Bridges, who writes for Netflix’s darkly fascinating sci-fi anthology series Black Mirror. If often explores the scary side of technological innovation.
And they say All of You is a romantic drama. Well, that’s probably going to be interesting, no matter how much or little the film has in common with Ted Lasso or Black Mirror.

Romantic drama All of You, from Ted Lasso‘s Brett Goldstein and Black Mirror‘s William Bridges, comes to Apple TV+ in 2025
The new Apple Original Film All of You recently garnered critical acclaim at both the Toronto International Film Festival and BFI London Film Festival, Apple TV+ said. The movie marks yet another addition to Apple’s growing collection of prestigious original content. Apple hasn’t said if the new movie will hit theaters upon release or go straight to Apple TV+ streaming.
The story follows two best friends whose lives are forever changed by a groundbreaking soulmate-matching test. Over 12 years, they struggle with their undeniable connection while navigating marriages, parenthood and personal tragedies. That all forces them to question whether scientific certainty should trump matters of the heart.
Goldstein and Imogen Poot star in All of You movie
Starring alongside Goldstein — who we’ll also see in Ted Lasso‘s long-awaited fourth season — in the All of You movie is accomplished actress Imogen Poots. Supporting performances come from Steven Cree and Zawe Ashton. Emmy Award-winning director William Bridges helms the film. He’s known for his work on Black Mirror. He also collaborated with Goldstein on the screenplay. The project comes from MRC and Republic Pictures, with production led by Ryder Picture Company’s Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett.

For Goldstein, All of You represents a continuation of his successful partnership with Apple TV+. The multi-talented creator currently serves as co-creator and executive producer of the Emmy-nominated comedy series Shrinking, and previously won multiple Emmy Awards for his role as Roy Kent in the global phenomenon Ted Lasso. He also served as a co-executive producer and writer on that show.
Streamer aims high
The acquisition of All of You further solidifies Apple TV+’s position as a major force in original content, the streamer said. The service made history as the first platform to win the Academy Award for Best Picture with CODA. It continues to build on that success an Academy Award for The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse in the Best Animated Short category, and 10 Oscar nominations for Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon.
Apple TV+ subscribers can look forward to an impressive lineup of upcoming films, including the recently released Blitz from Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen, and the star-studded Wolfs featuring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. The service is also preparing to launch The Gorge, an action-packed love story starring Miles Teller, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Sigourney Weaver. And then there’s the big Formula One racing film F1, starring Brad Pitt, which will first hit theaters on June 25, 2025.
