Freebie launcher app Alfred will be getting some additional features soon, in the form of a paid “Powerpack” upgrade.

In a blog post today, Alfred’s developers said they were working on a set of extra features that they will sell as bolt-ons to the existing ones.

For those who haven’t used it, Alfred is an excellent launcher, file finder, and web search tool.

The planned Powerpack features include:

  • iTunes controls
  • file system navigation
  • better access to Contacts
  • scripting support

The first Powerpack release should be coming in six weeks or so; early adopters will be offered a discount price on the Powerpack.

I’ve been using Alfred since its first release and I must say I’m very impressed. It does what it claims to at lightning speed, and doesn’t get in your way. I’m looking forward to seeing the extra stuff – and finding out how much it will cost.
