We know that all kids want for Christmas is an Apple device, it turns out adults do too.

According to a survey by the Consumer Electronics Association, people old enough to vote did put one thing first, though.

First, adults would like the holidays to bring happiness or peace. Then comes material desire:  a laptop. And third, an iPad.

Bringing family together, health and money trailed behind, though they did make it into the top ten at seven, eight and 10 respectively. (CEA didn’t disclose info on  sample size or makeup. Pet peeve alert!)

Maybe it’s a question of being realistic. Getting along, getting together with the family, good health and good finances require a lot more work than getting an iPad.

The survey says that holiday shoppers will spend $750 on holiday gifts, down two percent from last year, but that a third of that merry making money will be spent on consumer electronics. That’s the highest since CEA started tracking electronics spending 17 years ago.

“Worries remain over the economy and employment picture, but there is optimism,” said Shawn DuBravac, CEA’s chief economist and director of research. Consumers will spend more this holiday than last, with one in five planning to increase their holiday budget compared to last year.”
