Are you getting antsy to get your shiny new toy but Apple is still showing your iPhone 4S as “Preparing for Shipment”? I’m not sure why the Apple system is not showing actual tracking for many, but trust me, your iPhone is likely already on the move. Follow the simple steps below to get your actual tracking information in realtime.
To get started, go to this UPS URL: https://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/track.
Next, click the “Track by Reference” link to expand that box.
Then simply enter the phone number associated with your Apple account in the “Shipment Reference” field (this should be the phone number you’ll be using on the new iPhone you’re waiting for) and then hit the “Track” button.
Done! You should be seeing your actual tracking number and all relevant tracking information.

Unfortunately I’m still getting “Pending Shipment” from the ATT “Order Status Results”. I ordered the phone at 2:30 PM central time on Friday. Hoping it will be quicker than the 14-21 days they quoted…
I order from ATT early in the morning on friday and mine still says “Shipment pending” as well… Anyone who ordered from ATT seeing anything different?

I ordered at 5 am on Friday, and today at 1:15 pm I received a text message from AT&T letting me know that the phone has shipped.
I ordered mine at 6 am est on friday and mine says the same thing, pending shipment. I have received 2 emails advising that I should have it on the 14th.
My phone has been sitting in Louisville, KY since 9:30am yesterday. Anyone else’s been stuck in one place for the past day?
I ordered mine through AT&T at the store at 9:00 am and I was the first customer and mine doesn’t show up either. :(

Ordered mine as soon as they were available from AT&T – mine still says “Processing”. Very very worried.
it’s possible apple is using different shippers though it seemed at first they were only using UPS.
if your phone is being held, it is most likely because apple orders shipping to hold your iPhone until the 14th even if that means letting it sit in a warehouse two blocks from where you live.
mine too. Looks like a whole bunch are on that shipment….hot bed for criminal activity if you ask me!
Interesting. I have the “Pending Shipment” message but haven’t gotten the emails. My original email said 14-21 days. I wonder if its because I went through the local ATT store and not online.

At least yours is in the United States. Its scheduled to arrive on the 14th but its still in Hong Kong right now
Based on the images above, I suggest that you don’t believe the status until it shows a city in the United States (e.g. Louisville, KY). The tracking numbers are basically attached to a master shipment manifest. What you are basically seeing is the paperwork being cleared through customs. I’m assuming that these phones are already sitting in a customs clearinghouse somewhere in the US, but they will not indicate a US location until the paperwork clears. (which I’m guess is sometime in the next 24 hours. I actually ordered mine from AT&T. I have a tracking number, but it is not showing up on the ups.com site. This usually means that while AT&T has assigned a label on the box, it has not been received by UPS, not scanned by UPS, so it will not track until it is in their hands. Based on my experience with other iPhone releases, as well as other “drop-ship” products from China, I’m still anticipating a “real” shipment either tonight or tomorrow morning. Don’t worry, they’re coming!

Yes, thank you for this! I had been worrying since my two iPhone orders both still said “Preparing for shipment” today and I know they usually ship UPS 2nd day, so I figured they would ship today. I had tried to check UPS this way a couple days ago when someone suggested it, but it wasn’t in the system yet. Now, both my iPhones left Hong Kong 9 hours ago, just 5 or so hours before they get to the States! Now I have no worries they will arrive at my door in LA on Friday! Yay!

Tracking through Fed Ex worked for me. Fed ex tracking indicates shipping “initiated” and at 8:06 AM today “Shipment information sent to FedEx.” Advises to check back later for shipment status.
Mine was in the Ontario,Ca (So Cal ) late last night, then went to San Diego during the night, then to Louisville KY this morning… ??? For an Orange Co ,CA delivery of tomorrow ??
My phone is listed as on time… It says ups can take up until 7:00 pm on launch day to deliver… It’s now 5:45 FM!.. What a joke.
