Mario Kart Tour has already taken players to New York, Tokyo, Paris and, err, Halloween and winter. Now its latest update is sending gamers to London, England.
From red buses to Big Ben, the new courses should offer a fun whistle-stop tour of the UK’s capital city. With some other tracks thrown in for good measure. And that’s not all.

Nintendo’s Mario Kart Tour was officially the most downloaded “free” game of 2019, Apple has revealed.
That’s particularly impressive since the game only landed on the App Store in late September — giving it less than half a year to carve out its record.

As 2019 draws to a close, Apple has revealed its picks for the year’s best apps and games. All available through the App Store, of course.
“We are excited to announce such a diverse group of 2019 App Store winners, showing that great design and creativity comes from developers large and small, and from every corner of the world,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Marketing. “We congratulate all the winners and thank them for making 2019 the best year yet for the App Store.”

Nintendo has revealed details of a pair of paid subscriptions coming to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. We wrote about news of the subscriptions earlier this week, but no pricing information was available at the time.
The new “Pocket Camp Club” subscriptions follow shortly after Nintendo introduced a similar subscription for Mario Kart Tour, with a “Gold Pass” priced at $4.99 per month.

Mario Kart Tour‘s world tour has so far taken players to New York, Tokyo and, err, Halloween. Now it’s headed to Paris, France for its next location.
Starting tomorrow, players logging into the game today should be able to access the Paris Tour course. In addition to landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and more, the Paris tour adds new characters as well.

Mario Kart Tour, Nintendo’s long-awaited Mario Kart game for iOS, enjoyed the second-biggest mobile game launch month in history. (And Nintendo’s biggest.) Across both Android and iOS, the game racked up 123.9 million unique downloads in its first four weeks.
That’s more than 5x the downloads that Super Mario Run‘s 21.8 million downloads.

Hipster Whale’s 2015 game Crossy Road modified the Frogger concept for a modern audience. In doing so, it raked in massive amounts of money for an indie game: around $10 million in its first 90 days.
Now the company is back with a new game, Crossy Road Castle, that’s set to debut on Apple Arcade. Check out the trailer below.

Mario Kart Tour has received its first major update, adding a new Tokyo Tour course, set in a cartoon version of Japan’s capital city. Other tracks include the classic Rainbow Road, Kalimari Desert, and more.
In addition, there are new characters such as Baby Rosalina, Roy, Wendy, Iggy, Larry, and Tokyo versions of Mario and Peach. You can check out the trailer below.

Eight months after it launched in Japan, King of Fighters Allstar is arriving in the West.
As its name suggests, King of Fighters is best known as a fighting game franchise. However, King of Fighters Allstar adds to this with new action-RPG elements. It gives you the chance to play as more than 50 fighters from the series in a game that pits you against waves of enemies, bosses, and rival teams. Your mission is to build the best team of fighters possible.
This was mind-blowing back in the day. And it's still pretty great today. Photo: Bethesda Softworks
Bethesda Softworks gave Gen Xers a reason to get nostalgic when it released updated versions of Doom and Doom II into the App Store. The versions packed all the pixelated monsters and massive weapons you could hope for on an iPhone or iPad.
But while folks were justifiably excited to don their flannel shirts, put on some alt rock in the background, and head back to the glory days of the mid-1990s, the games didn’t totally deliver on their promises. A number of people pointed out that the audio and lighting weren’t correct in both ports. Those problems have now been fixed.
Gold Pass costs the same as a subscription to Apple's 100+ gaming service. Photo: Nintendo
Mario Kart Tourwent live this week — and despite being, technically, free to download its in-app purchases make it pretty pricey. Certainly compared to Apple Arcade.
Eagle-eyed gamers quickly noted that Mario Kart‘s so-called Gold Pass subscription will set you back $4.99 per month. That’s the same price that Apple is charging for its entire 100+ game subscription service!

It’s been a long time coming, but Mario Kart Tour has finally raced (well, maybe dawdled) into the App Store.
The free-to-play kart racing game is available to download now, although currently you can only play a New York City-based course. Other courses will roll out at a later date.

Call of Duty: Mobile will offer a CoD multiplayer experience for your iPhone. Photo: Activision
Activision’s Call of Duty: Mobile, an entry in the popular franchise, but built from the ground up for mobile, will be launching worldwide October 1.
The game soft-launched in Australia back in June. However, the rest of us have had to wait to try out the free-to-play title. To celebrate the impending launch, Activision has released a brand new trailer.

New subscription gaming service Apple Arcade is here1, and it looks like an incredible deal. For just $5 per month, everyone in your family gets unlimited access to dozens of exclusive games (with a free month-long trial to check it out). Even better for parents, there are no in-app purchases in Apple Arcade, so your kids won’t be begging you to buy more coins or whatever every five minutes.
However, they can still spend way too much time on games when they should be out playing with kilometer-zero, organic wooden toys, or pretending that old washing machine delivery box is a panic room. Thankfully, Apple’s own Screen Time feature already works with Apple Arcade, so you can restrict access to any and all games.

Apple’s gaming subscription service Apple Arcade will cost $4.99 per month and launch September 19.
Apple showed off three launch games from its gaming service at today’s “By Innovation Only” event. It also gave a glimpse of the interface users can expect, alongside sharing other neat details. And, yes, it comes with a one-month free trial.
Dr. Mario landed on iOS this summer. Photo: Nintendo
Dr. Mario World, the latest Nintendo title to land in the App Store, just got a new update — adding 4 new doctors and 20 additional stages.
New doctors include Doctors Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, and Baby Daisy. While I’d quibble about the realism of someone being able to complete a 7-year+ medical course while remaining a baby, I don’t think that’s entirely the point.
Apple has no intention of scrapping iMessage games — despite some of the rumors you might be reading online this week.
Stories surrounding the supposed move started trending on Twitter, causing some fans to freak about the feature’s removal. But at no point has Apple stated that it will close the iMessage App Store.
A retro nod to the past -- by which I mean the show released last month. Photo: BonusXP/Netflix
Movie and TV show video game tie-ins still have a pretty poor reputation dating back to the rushed-out titles that proliferated in the 1980s and 90s. Fortunately, Stranger Things hasn’t taken this as part of its meta homage to all things retro.
Instead, it’s had fun with fan service by recreating its Netflix series in the form of surprisingly good, retro-style games. Now developers BonusXP have recreated the third season of the show in a new isometric action game. Welcome to Stranger Things 3: The Game on iOS…
