One of the better pairs of on-ear headphones you can get is now half off at Amazon — Beats Solo 4. The current $99.95 price doesn’t beat what I paid during Prime Day in July, but my miracle deal was only $2 cheaper! And I have zero regrets.
Seriously, these little cans for less than $100 makes for a great deal anytime.
Beats Solo 4 deal: Half off wireless on-ear headphones
- 50 hours battery life
- Personalized Spatial Audio
- Apple and Android compatible
- Lossless audio over cable
- No active noise cancellation
During the most recent Amazon Prime Day in July, I couldn’t help myself when I saw Beats Solo 4 wireless on-ear headphones for just over half off, at about $97. On the spot, I decided I had to have them for the gym. They came out in April 2024, so they’re reasonably up to date even as they come at big discount more often as time goes on.
As on-ear cans, Beats Solo 4 are smaller than over-ear headphones like Beats Studio Pro or AirPods Max. So they don’t get in the way and they pick up less perspiration during workouts, at least theoretically. Let’s just say they get sweatier than earbuds but less-so than over-ear cans.
The good news is I don’t regret the purchase, despite being the sheepish owner of an absurdly large number of headphones and earbuds (mainly because I review them for Cult of Mac). So I’m glad I found an excuse to buy them. Now these compact, folding on-ear headphones live in the console of my car so I can’t forget them when I hit the gym. And while the small cans lack active noise cancellation, they provide good passive noise cancellation. When I put them on, gym noise falls away nicely.
You might find something a little more perfect for workouts, like Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds with ear hooks. Or a little cheaper, like JBL’s on-ear cans. Both are featured in my recent best noise-canceling headphones roundup. But for great-sounding on-air cans, you can’t do much better than Beats Solo 4 at the current sale price.
Great sound and cool features for Apple and Android users
Beats Solo 4 check the usual boxes found in recent Beats audio gear:
- Great sound with lots of detail and reasonable bass (not huge bass for the sake of bass like Beats of old).
- Comfortable fit (less “clampy” than some older sets, but still snug).
- Terrific Apple features like Spatial Audio with Dynamic Head Tracking.
- Lossless audio and no battery drain when used with included USB-C cable or 3.5mm audio cable.
- Long battery life, up to 50 hours.
- Easy compatibility — as in pairing and sharing — with both Apple and Android devices.
Beats Solo 4 come with a nice little carrying case, USB-C and 3.5mm audio cables, a quick-start guide and a warranty. All four colors are on sale: black/gold, matte black, cloud pink or slate blue. Get them for $99.95 while you can.
