One of those fans, talented designer Antonio De Rosa, recently paid homage to Apple’s first-gen iMac by putting together some retro iMac concept art for what a new iMac in the same style might look like.

Steve Wozniak’s Woz U online coding educational platform has disappointed some students, a new CBS report claims.

The online education company, which offer a 33-week program for $13,200, is criticized for supposed low quality teaching resources. According to CBS, these allegedly range from out-of-date materials to unqualified student mentors.

Feds force suspect to unlock iPhone using Face ID for first time

According to a new report, for the first time in the U.S. and possibly elsewhere, law enforcement recently accessed a suspect’s phone by using their face to unlock Face ID.

The incident took place on August 10, when the FBI searched the house of 28-year-old Ohio resident Grant Michalski, later charged with receiving and possessing child pornography. Michalski was told to put his face in front of the phone, thereby unlocking it. This allowed agents to look through his online chats, photos, and other material deemed worthy of investigation.

The former Apple engineer who worked on Apple’s “Find my iPhone” feature is suing the company to get them to acknowledge his role as inventor, and to compensate him for unfair dismissal.

Engineer Darren Eastman wants his name to be added to five Apple patent applications. He also wants Apple shares he claims were taken from him unfairly, plus damages.

Apple hires more series regular for its Dickinson TV show

Apple continues to pad out the cast for its Dickinson series, a comedic look at the world of 19th century poet Emily Dickinson.

Joining current cast members Hailee Steinfeld and Jane Krakowski will be Toby Huss from Nickelodeon’s The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Anna Baryshnikov from Manchester by the Sea, Ella Hunt from Anna and the Apocalypse, and Adrian Blake Enscoe from Seeds.

Investigators claim that a crime ring was responsible for the robberies, which took place in 19 counties, resulting in more than $1 million in retail value of devices being stolen.

iOS 12’s Memojis — Animoji-style avatars which look like the user, rather than talking poop emojis or animals — are a cool feature that sets Apple apart from some of its Android rivals.

But according to a new lawsuit, the Memoji trademark actually came from an Android app with the same name.

Seven suspects have been arrested in connection to the spate of Apple Store thefts taking place across the Bay Area. Multiple law enforcement agencies cooperated to crack an organized crime ring targeting Apple Stores throughout the region.

The Oakland Police Department said that it, “assisted another law enforcement agency by arresting multiple individuals wanted on criminal warrants.” These arrests, it continued, were, “in connection to large-scale crimes that were committed throughout the state of California.”

The Apple Store can be quite the place to spot celebrities and well-known public figures. An image doing the rounds on Twitter shows Robert Mueller, the special prosecutor in charge of the Russia investigation, participating in a recent Genius Bar session.

The Genius Bar appointment took place at the Apple Store in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Mueller appears to be having issues with his MacBook Pro.

Palo Alto Apple Store robbed twice in less than 12 hours

The Apple Store in downtown Palo Alto was robbed twice in 12 hours over the weekend, as the Californian Apple Store crime spree continues.

In the first instance, a gang of eight males entered the store after 7pm on Saturday, and began snatching iPhones and other devices, before fleeing in multiple vehicles. In the early hours of Sunday morning, the store’s glass doors were then shattered with rocks, and more products were taken.

Teenager who hacked Apple’s servers gets 8 months’ probation

The Australian teenager who hacked into Apple’s servers and downloaded sensitive data has been given probation in place of a jail sentence.

The verdict was announced on Thursday. The teenager, who carried out the hacking between June 2015 and April 2017, has not been named because their identity as a juvenile offender is protected under Australian law. They were 16-years-old at the time that the first hacking incident took place.

Working Apple-1 sells to mystery buyer for $375,000

A rare working Apple-1 computer, one of just 200 built by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976, has sold at auction for $375,000.

The computer is thought to be just one of only around 15 Apple-1 models still in working order. The auction took place in Boston, MA, on Tuesday. The buyer was an “anonymous businessman,” who placed his bid online.

The Apple Watch Series 4 may be the first “must have” generation of Apple’s wearable device, and manufacturer Quanta Computer is working to full capacity to make sure it reaches as many customers as possible.

According to a new report, Quanta Computer’s capacity for the new Apple Watch at its factory in Changshu, eastern China is already “fully loaded.” In an effort to deliver even more of the devices, Apple has recruited a second supplier — Compal Electronics — which will start mass production in November.

Apple removed several questionable websites serving up fake news and conspiracy theories via Safari’s “Siri Suggested” search results.

The recommended websites pointed users to posts about the “Pizzagate” hoax, Holocaust denier articles, and debunked race-based “science” stories. After BuzzFeed News alerted Apple to these bogus results, Cupertino promptly removed the recommendations.

Déjà vu much? A new report claims that the high price of Apple’s new iPhone XS series is likely to result in a slow down in demand later in 2018, after the initial fanfare for the new devices fades. This is said to be particularly true for the iPhone XS Max, which costs up to $1,449 for the 512 GB version.

While that’s certainly a possibility, however, remember that many people predicted the same fate would befall the iPhone X last year — and they wound up being spectacularly wrong.

Qualcomm claims that Apple stole its chip technology and gave it to Intel — and it says it’s got the proof.

According to the chipmaker, Apple stole “vast swaths” of confidential information and trade secrets, which it used to improve the performance of chips made by Qualcomm rival Intel. The claims are part of a new court filing by Qualcomm.
