After being down for a few hours in preparation for the launch of the iPhone XS and Apple Watch Series 4, the Apple Store website is now back up, and ready to roll. For tips on how to make sure your pre-order goes smoothly, keep reading.

Can Apple Watch Series 4’s fall-detection feature tell when you have fallen in love? I hope so, because I’ve really fallen for it. Big-time. I haven’t felt this way about an Apple Watch since my first love, the original model, was announced back in 2014.
It’s not just the sleek new design. Nor the spacious new screen. It’s not even the breakthrough new health features. It’s when you combine them all together. It defies all logic and reason that Cupertino managed to cram so much awesomeness into such a tiny, beautiful package.
I can’t wait to strap an Apple Watch Series 4 onto my wrist next Friday and take it for a run. But until then, here are my first thoughts on this exciting new direction for Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch Series 4 is set to go up for pre-orders on Friday at 12:01 AM PDT, but if you’re hoping to snag one of the Nike+ models you’ll have to wait a little bit longer than everyone else to get the new watch on your wrist.
Some things you should know about the FDA clearance of the new Apple Watch's EKG. Photo: Apple
At yesterday’s iPhone and Apple Watch event, Apple revealed that it has received Food and Drug Administration clearance for the Apple Watch Series 4’s new electrocardiogram feature. In theory, this marks the ascension of the Apple Watch from a wellness health tracker to a full-fledged medical device.
But people shouldn’t be too quick to jump to conclusions about the Apple Watch’s FDA-approval stamp. Adam Masin, a litigator who deals with medical device manufacturers in product liability lawsuits, made a few crucial points on Twitter.

Apple just unveiled a rush of new devices, including three iPhone models and a pair of Apple Watches. A theme for these announcements could be “Bigger is better.”
None of the products are available yet, and reporters have only been given a short time to try them out. It’s early, but there’s some consensus about each of the new devices.

What cool new features will be hidden inside that slimmer Series 4 frame? Photo illustration: Graham Bower/Cult of Mac
In just a few weeks, Apple looks set to unveil the biggest upgrade yet to its popular wearable.
While the external appearance of Apple Watch has not changed much since its launch, recent leaks suggest we can expect a new form factor with a larger screen when Apple Watch Series 4 lands.
In the Photoshop mockup above, I’ve shown how Apple’s next watch might look if it slimmed down and added a larger screen (as the rumormongers predict). That would be pretty cool, but there are plenty of other potential upgrades I’m excited about.
Here’s my top 10 wish list for Apple Watch Series 4 new features.
Makers of the popular Crocodilus Apple Watch band, Strapa continues its trend toward quality with its latest release — the Primus. Shown above with Matte Black hardware. Photo: Strapa
The company we know as Strapple (a company featured in Cult of Mac’s Watch Store) sounded a bit too much like the maker of Apple Watch. The tiny brand speedily changed its name to Strapa and doubled-down with the release of one of its most striking Apple Watch bands yet — the Primus.
Strapa explains Apple’s (minor) involvement in its sudden name change and site relaunch. During this transition, this company continues to make some of the best leather bands we’ve worn. The Primus Apple Watch Band is the latest in Strapa’s lineup.
