AT&T will make you change plan to use FaceTime over 3G/4G.
AT&T will make you change plan to use FaceTime over 3G/4G.

When Apple releases iOS 6 tomorrow, it will finally allow users to make FaceTime calls over 3G and 4G data connections. But AT&T has decided — unlike most other carriers — that it’s going to charge its customers extra to take advantage of the feature. Understandably, this has annoyed a lot of people.

So much so that the Free Press, Public Knowledge, and the New America Foundation’s Open Technology Institute have warned AT&T that they will be filing a complaint with the FCC against the carrier for violating network neutrality rules.

Oomf Is Like Pinterest For App Discovery

By

Let’s be honest, finding apps on the App Store sucks. There isn’t a great way to find new apps, other than looking at the top of the charts and seeing which apps are most popular. Even though Genius support is coming to the App Store in iOS 6, we’re not getting our hopes up that Apple will be able to fix app discovery on their first shot.

There are a couple websites out right now that focus on discovering new apps, but one of the more exciting startups right now is Ooomf, which offers a set of tools for both developers and app users, to find new apps or promote current content.

Apple Now Has A Tool For Developers To Dispute App Ripoffs

By

angrydispute

There are about fifty hundred billion apps in the App Store. Some of them are really amazing, while others are just shoddy ripoffs of other successful apps.

Getting an app removed from the App Store because it copies some key parts of your app has been a hassle for developers, but Apple just released a new tool that streamlines the process to dispute apps that may be guilty of copyright or trademark infringement.

The redesign, which brings a new cards-style interface to searches, replaces the old list format of results. As you can see from below, the design is consistent across both the iPhone and iPad user interface.

Apple Finally Starting To Reject App Store Submissions That Copy Other Icons

By

fake-clear-app-spotted-in-the-app-store_s-apl_0

Unfortunately, the App Store has become home to thousands of poorly designed copycat apps that try to ride the coattails of other popular titles. Such apps use a similar name, look, description, and even icon to trick customers into downloading. While Apple is known for the stringent requirements it puts in place for third-party developers, many clear ripoffs still manage to slip through somehow.

It appears as though Apple is starting to crack down on copycat apps with more force. App Store submissions that uses icons similar to other popular apps are now getting banned.

GymPact Teams Up With RunKeeper To Earn You Money When You Exercise

By

Every morning, I scrape myself off of the bottom of my hangover’s hobnailed boot and try to make it down to the gym. About two-out-of-five times, I’ll oogily succeed and manage to douse myself in the pool until I’ve either done fifty laps or turned the water fifty proof, whichever comes first.

If only there was a way to be better motivated, I’ll often think to myself. Which is why I’m intrigued by a partnership between GymPack and RunKeeper, that will not only award me real money when I successfully drag my carcass to the gym, and actually penalize me money when I don’t.
