When it comes to the iPhone 13 lineup, it’s apparently time to go Pro or go home.
An overwhelming 80% of people who responded to Cult of Mac’s flash poll after Tuesday’s Apple event say they will buy either iPhone 13 Pro or iPhone 13 Pro Max on launch day.
80% say they will buy iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max
The larger flagship phone racked up an astonishing 50.5% of the votes. iPhone 13 Pro took another 30.4%. Meanwhile, the “regular” iPhone 13 received just 11.5% of votes. And the iPhone 13 mini reeled in a shrimpy 7.7%.
Obviously, our Twitter flash poll is far from scientific. We opened voting for just four hours Tuesday to get a quick snapshot of consumer sentiment. Plus, it seems logical that people paying attention to the “California Streaming” event, during which Apple unveiled the 2021 iPhone lineup, would be Apple fans. It’s also likely that Cult of Mac Twitter followers might naturally tend toward higher-end Pro devices.
Still, the poll quickly captured more than 1,000 responses. And the astonishing percentage of people who said they will queue up for the iPhone 13 Pro models surprised even us.

Why choose iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max?
So, why go Pro? The iPhone 13 and 13 mini sound plenty good. They bring a faster processor, a smaller notch, increased baseline storage and Apple’s stunning new Cinematic mode for video.
But iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max sound even better. The high-end models come with ProMotion displays and an even-faster A15 Bionic chip. And their three-lens camera setups got a big boost, too. The brighter Ultra Wide lens can do macro photography. And the Telephoto optical zoom now goes to 3x.
Apparently that’s enough to warrant the extra $300 (minimum) to go Pro — at least for iPhone superfans.
Of course, as one commenter pointed out, we didn’t include a “none of the above” option. Unfortunately, Twitter polls only allow four possible answers. That meant we couldn’t give iPhone 13 abstainers an option. (Nor could we offer the answer we really wanted to include — iPhone 14).
Preorders for the entire iPhone 13 lineup start at 5 a.m. PDT this Friday, September 17. The models hit store shelves a week later on September 24.
