Fans of Mythic Quest won’t have to wait until May for season two of the comedy series to return to Apple TV+. A special pre-season episode will debut Friday, April 16.
It will explore the challenges the quirky characters experience returning to their office after the COVID-19 pandemic. Anthony Hopkins will have a voice role.
“‘Everlight’ is a special episode that addresses the practical and emotional difficulties of returning to normalcy,” said Rob McElhenney, who stars in the series as Ian. “It’s full of hope and joy and optimism for a bright future. Ahead of our upcoming second season, we felt it was the perfect way (and the perfect time) to invite the audience back into the world of Mythic Quest.”
This is follow-up to a special “Quarantine” Mythic Quest episode the series filmed last spring in the midst of the pandemic.
Leads into Mythic Quest season two
Season one of Mythic Quest debuted in 2020 to very positive critic reviews. The offbeat comedy follows a game-development company lead by Ian, who’s brilliant but hilariously arrogant. Other characters are a mix of eccentric personalities and tightly-wound business types.
In the upcoming season two, Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) has been promoted to co-creative director with Ian, but the two can’t agree on a direction for an all-important expansion pack for their game. At all. Meanwhile, the testers (Ashly Burch and Imani Hakim) test the bounds of an office romance while C.W. (F. Murray Abraham) and David (David Hornsby) have their own problems.
The Mythic Quest season 2 global debut will be on Friday, May 7, 2021 on Apple TV+. The first season is available to stream now.
