An iPhone doesn’t have to look coldly technological. Oakywood cases add cherry or walnut to your phone, giving it a more natural appearance. And the cases add shock resistance to Apple’s handset.

Your iPhone goes with you everywhere. Its appearance should reflect your tastes and personality. And if you like the look of wood, then give yourself a wooden iPhone. That’s where Oakywood comes in.
Hardware and Design
The Wooden iPhone Case includes a polycarbonate base and TPU shell that wraps around the sides and back of the handset. A piece of wood sits on top of this and covers the back of the device.
Oakywood sent me a demo unit that uses Cherry. Walnut is the other option. The wood is hand polished and the edges are beveled to make it comfortable to touch and hold. The shell is always black.
An iPhone itself is as slick as an eel, and this polished wood case is only slightly less so. That makes it pleasant to hold, but easy to slip out of your fingers. Oakywood says its case is shock resistant, but makes no specific promises about drop protection.
The case is thin, though not the thinnest I’ve ever used. The layer of wood adds a bit of bulk. But not too much. My iPhone 12 demo unit weighs a mere 1.2 ounces (34 g).
There are openings in the Wooden iPhone 12 Case for the camera hump, speakers and Lightning port. Buttons have covers that don’t affect their usability.
There are versions for all three sizes of Apple’s latest iOS handset. And Oakywood makes one for previous models too, going back to the iPhone 6. Plus, the company has Samsung Galaxy handsets covered as well.

You iPhone doesn’t have to be covered in slick aluminum. It’s OK to like other materials. The Cherry Oakywood Wooden iPhone 12 Case I tested looks and feels great. And there a Walnut option for those who like darker wood.
