A new MacBook Air or iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard deserves protection that smells good.
Hear the name WaterField Designs and the part of the brain connected to the nose instantly recalls the rich scent of full grain leather.
One day after Apple announced its two newest products, the small-batch San Francisco manufacturer unveiled the Hitch Crossbody Laptop Brief, in two sizes with two padded compartments for both an iPad and MacBook.
WaterField Designs timed the release of the vertical briefcase for Apple’s product launch and made sure the design would fit an anticipated 14-inch MacBook Pro.
The Hitch Crossbody Brief comes in three styles: black or chocolate full-grain leather, tan waxed canvass with leather accents and black ballistic nylon.
The compact model for $249 can fit up to a 14-inch MacBook Pro. A larger model for $259 can hold the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Each has a spacious main compartment and a zippered front pocket. There are subtle expanders built in for people who pack a lot in their carry. There is also an adjustable shoulder strap long enough to wear across the body.
“The vertical design keeps the weight distributed,” company owner Gary Waterfield said. “It holds a lot but stays really sleek looking.
The vertical brief can be pre-ordered now and customers will get free two-day shipping once the WaterField team returns to its sewing studio. A strict COVID-19 lockdown in California has delayed the production run.
