AT&T’s latest cable replacement for cord-cutters, AT&T TV, launched nationwide today, replacing the streaming service DirecTV Now.

The carrier is offering big discounts to customers that sign a 24-month contract for AT&T TV which allows you to stream live sports, news, shows, and on-demand titles for a monthly fee. The only problem is it might not be much cheaper than your old cable bill.

AT&T TV‘s starting price is set at $49.99 per month for the basic “Entertainment” tier. The “Choice” tier costs $54.99 and the “Xtra” tier is $64.99. Those prices are only for the first 12 months of your contract though. During the last 12 months, the rates jump to $93/month, $110/month and $124/month. Oh, and don’t forget the monthly $8.99 regional sports fee on the Choice and Xtra tiers.

The good news is AT&T is bundling AT&T TV with its 1 gig internet service for $39.99 per month for the first 12 months. If you’ve been looking for a new internet provider and you’re within AT&T’s service area it might make financial sense to switch.

AT&T TV customers get a set-top box to stream content that can also access the Google Play store. The accompanying remote also has a Google Assistant button for voice commands. There’s also an AT&T TV app for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV so you can stream shows from anywhere.

All packages include a cloud DVR with 500 hours of storage. Third-party apps like Netflix and YouTube are also supported by the box with more apps slated to be integrated in the future. AT&T TV launches just a few months before the company’s other big streaming play, HBO Max, launches in May. The streaming service is set to take on Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix and other streamers with an arsenal of content from Warner Brothers, HBO and a highly anticipated Friends reunion.
