Ever visit the Apple store for an iPhone repair and notice the Genius Bar uses special diagnostic apps you’ve never seen before?
Apple keeps its internal-use apps on tight lockdown, but thanks to a forgetful iPhone technician, Apple nerds just got an in-depth look at a secret app called iQT that’s used to make sure every single feature on your iPhone is working properly.
Details about iQT are pretty hard to find on the internet other than one page on the iPhone Wiki that lists all the features. The actual UI and testing is far more interesting when you see it in person.
iQT exposed
The YouTuber behind Holt’s iPhone Help recently found iQT still installed on his iPhone after it was sent in for repair. It appears whoever ran quality assurance on the device before went back out forgot to delete it. Holt’s iPhone Help shared a video diving into some of the interesting features, such as the 3D Touch test that shows precisely how much pressure is applied on the screen.

It’s amazing how many little features there are to test that most iPhone users probably never even think about. iQT can test everything from your iPhone’s buttons, cameras, the compass, NFC and even see if it’s level in three different orientations.
Apple has never made iQT available to the public. Holt’s iPhone Help is trying to change that though and is looking into whether it’s possible to extract it and release it as a jailbroken app.
